Our Story

Where did this all start? Good question. Back in early 2020, when the infamous pandemic (yes, Covid-19) limited our access to fresh produce, the community responded by creating a delivery round of fresh local produce. As orders flooded in, it soon became apparent that something a little more permanent was needed.

That is what you’ll find here, at the May Hill Hub. An online local village shop. Just place your order and then collect from the Hub. It’s as easy as that. The more support we get, the more the shop will grow and the more we can offer you. Find out how it all works here.

The hub is run as a non-profit charity by the residents of May Hill. Our three main goals are to:

  • Sell local produce to support local businesses

  • Support the residents of May Hill and neighbouring villages

  • Operate in a sustainable and environmentally-friendly way

See you at the May Hill Hub!

What We Offer

For the Community, one weekly location for fresh, local produce.

It’s harder to run a local market now. Social distancing, quarantines, limited travel. We let you browse online, order and we handle all the collection and organisation and have your products ready for you at the end of the week.

For Local Business, one weekly drop-off or collection for sales.

Not every business can run its own delivery service and have its own fleet of delivery drivers. And it costs money and insurance and fuel. We offer a website, one weekly drop-off or collection and let us help you reach local customers without the overheads.

Make a donation.

Everything we do is on a non-profit, for the community basis. Nearly everything is run on a volunteer basis, including this text! But we do have some overheads to cover, for example hosting this website, handling payments and doing pick ups around the area.

Any additional support you can offer is very welcome and we are very grateful for any additional donations you can spare.
