Frequently Asked Questions

What is the May Hill Hub?

We are a community Click and Collect shop service covering May Hill and the nearby area. Our aim is to support local businesses and residents in a sustainable and responsible way. We now also provide a pop up shop between 2 & 4pm on a Friday at May Hill Village Hall.

How do I order/ collect my shopping?

Orders need to be placed weekly through the website by midnight on a Tuesday for collection on the Friday. This allows us time to place orders with local suppliers, which will then be available for you to collect from May Hill village hall on Friday afternoon.

What if I don’t want to order through the website?

A limited amount of fresh products and a growing selection of store cupboard items are now available to buy on a Friday between 2-4pm at May Hill Village Hall via our pop up shop.

Some customers are happy to order (and collect if necessary) on behalf of others, if you’d like more information then please come to see us on a Friday afternoon at the village hall or email us.

Who runs the Hub?

The community! The May Hill Hub is a charitable organisation, which depends on local volunteers. We have a steering committee of eight May Hill residents and a wider network of volunteers working together.

Can I sell something on your site?

We are keen to expand what is offered on the website. Our focus is to support local businesses selling a range of goods – food, drinks, arts and crafts and more. Please do get in touch with us at mayhillvillageshop@gmail.com

Can I get involved in the running of the Hub?

Yes please! We would love to hear from you. We are always looking for volunteers or people with skills that can help develop the service.

Please email us or contact our volunteer co-ordinator Dave Elvidge (01452 830013 or via email) if you are interested in joining us.

If you can help with the sourcing of grants, or if accounts or marketing is your area of expertise then we are especially keen to hear from you! To discuss this further please drop us an email.

Is there a minimum spend?

We request that customers make a minimum spend of £5 per order. We pay our card provider a fixed fee for every customer’s shop and anything below this means we lose out financially.
